About

I’m Bryan Vold, a writer based in Waxahachie, Texas, just south of Dallas.

This website is a home for sharing ideas and the things that I’m learning along the way.

I’m working on my first novel, a work of speculative Christian fiction. No title, a vague idea of a setting and topics I want to explore. I don’t know how I got here… I started journaling and then the next thing I know, I’m buying notebooks, pens and buying craft books. “Jane, stop this crazy thing!”

I’m working on making reading, writing, and journaling part of my life. The writing life is a constant adjustment process; it doesn’t come all baked and ready to eat. I didn’t understand the ebb and flow of interest and internal struggle that some of the craft books were talking about, but I’ve started to experience it a bit, and I haven’t even really begun to write in earnest. And here’s the thing — I specifically wrote in my journal — “There’s absolutely no pressure, because I’m not planning to make money with this; it’s only to discover.” Yeah, right. How do I convince my brain what I said in my journal?!??
